Getting started with Preppy
Preppy is a touch kiosk that prints prep and expiry labels to a thermal label printer. This page gets a new store from box to first label.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- A Windows tablet (10 inch, 1280 by 800 or better) or a PizzaBot kiosk kit.
- A Zebra label printer with the store’s label stock. Most stores already own one.
- Wi-Fi, for updates. Preppy prints fine without it.
Install
Section titled “Install”- Download the latest installer from your franchise’s release page.
- Run it on the tablet. Preppy starts full screen and opens on next sign-in automatically.
- Open Settings → Printer, pick the printer, and tap Test print.
First label
Section titled “First label”- On the home screen, tap a template: In Use, Opened / Prepped, or Unopened.
- Tap a hold time, for example 2 DAY. The preview updates.
- Tap Print, choose a quantity, and take the labels.
Set up quick items
Section titled “Set up quick items”Quick items are your store’s common preps with the right time and template built in. Open Settings → Labels → Quick items to add them, group them by category, and reorder.
Date rules
Section titled “Date rules”Preppy can count days the way your food safety standard does. In Settings → Labels → Date calculation you can turn on day-first counting, set the cutoff hour, choose minute rounding, and let same-day labels fall back to the end-of-day label. See Features and settings for every option.
Updates
Section titled “Updates”Preppy checks for updates on its own. When one is ready it downloads in the background and installs the next time the app quits. You can also check manually in Settings → Updates.
